Benedictine Oblates
Benedictine oblates are Christian lay women and men who seek to enrich their life with the ancient wisdom of St. Benedict.
Oblates associate themselves with a particular monastery and live the monastic values of prayer, lectio divina (reading scripture), work, hospitality, stewardship, simplicity and sacred leisure, insofar as their particular circumstances allow.
Why become a Benedictine Oblate?
An oblate community is a place of support, understanding, wisdom and companionship. Oblates journey with other pilgrims seeking union with God.
Oblates seek to deepen their relationship with God, self, others and creation through formation in Benedictine spirituality.
Oblates receive strength and inspiration from the Benedictine way of life and oblate community.
They carry monastic values into the world by applying the wisdom of the Rule of Benedict in their daily life.
At work, in their family and in their church community oblates listen to and follow God.

Oblates meet monthly from August through May to pray, study the Rule and discuss Benedictine spirituality at the following locations:
Illinois: Bloomington, Macomb, Nauvoo, Peoria, Peru, and Rock Island
Indiana: Munster
