Women's Retreat: The Art of Pausing

Is it possible to pause periodically during our busy days and still be productive? Throughout the ages the greatest spiritual thinkers, including St. Benedict, often talked of the need for pausing and practiced this art in their lives. Those following the Rule of St. Benedict talk about leisure as being 'holy'. There is also an ancient Benedictine motto that says "Cut back, it will grow stronger." But how do we know what to cut back on and how can we find the time to do it? This retreat will offer practical ways, based on monastic practices, to slow down, finder greater balance, and to reboot and recharge. Through quiet reflection, prayer and discussion this retreat will help you nurture your life and to 'pause.' Presenter: Judith Valente, Benedictine Oblate, journalist, author and correspondent for PBS-TV and NPR Affiliate WGLT-Radio in central Illinois. Fri.
