Marina Veldin Lawson, 82, and husband are happy to have had another successful year running their guest house/B&B in Puerto Rico. “Our guests constantly comment on our attention to detail, cleanliness, and dedication and hard work, so I just wanted to say thank you. I truly feel that most of these qualities in me were formed during my years at SMA. You really helped me to build the strong core values that I have brought into my adult life.”
Anissa Michalak Wolfe, ‘85: “I am currently living in Mount Vernon, Iowa and have 2 boys 10 and 4. I am an Area Account Exec with Marriott International. I am interested in knowing if anyone is up for organizing a 25 year reunion with me? Please e-mail me at aniwo@aol.com and keep in touch!”
Bonnie Bertucci Kassel, ‘86, is working part-time at two breakfast restaurants while enjoying family life with husband, Todd, and their three children. She enjoyed a trip to Anchorage last spring.
I was a student at St. Mary’s 1986-1989 and have very fond memories of Sister Veronica. My love for the arts was instilled by her and think of her often. I still have my still life charcoal drawing of the bald eagle from her class room! I still dabble in art and painting and only wish I had more time as an adult to speak to her and learn more of what she had to teach, not only about art but also about life.
I was a student 1980-1981 and graduated in 1981. I have many fond memories of St Mary’s and of Nauvoo. I made some awesome friends while I was there and have recently gotten back in touch with some of them through Facebook! I am an RN at St Francis in Greenville SC and am the team leader over the Vascular Access Team. I have two grown sons, Charlie 23 and Thomas 19. I have a daughter-in-law, Casey and their (she and Thomas’) daughter (my grandaughter!) Emry who is almost 7 months. I have 4 horses all of whom are trail ridden. I love my life and attribute my alot of my positive attitude to the 9 months I was at St Mary’s. I’d like to say “Hi” to all of my classmates and hope everyone is doing well!
Hi Suzanne! Check out our Facebook page (Benedictine Sisters of St. Mary Monastery) – we post there every day, and many alums have become our “friends.” You sound like you’re doing great! Peace!
